Children aged 6 and over can use the bowling alley thanks to a special ramp. They must always be accompanied by an adult.

Access to the lane is only permitted with dry, clean shoes. We recommend that you use the bowling shoes provided, but this is not mandatory.

The youth hostel in Beaufort has only one bowling lane.

Yes, you can eat and drink in the bowling alley. However, you may not bring your own food or drinks.
We offer a range of meals and snacks to suit all budgets – just ask at reception or book in advance if you’d like a specific menu.

The bowling alley is open to all guests of the youth hostel, as well as to external visitors. If you just want to try bowling once, there is no need to become a member. However, if you plan to come regularly, we recommend becoming a member.

Prices are per hour and per group of up to 10 people.

To guarantee availability, it is best to book the track in advance by email or phone.

Bowling is at your own risk. We accept no liability beyond what is required by law.

The birthday package includes:

• 2 hours’ hire of the bowling alley for up to 10 children
• A birthday cake
• Drinks (hot chocolate, Fairtrade fruit juices and water)
• A decorated table
• Birthday invitations in PDF format
• A birthday card for the birthday child

Extra pizzas, pasta or additional rental time can be added for a supplement.

When children are bowling, at least one responsible adult must remain on site.

• A €100 deposit per boat is required on site (credit card or cash).
• Everyone must wear a life jacket (provided by us).
• Participants must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• All participants (children, teenagers and adults) must be able to swim for at least 15 minutes.
• As soon as you hire the equipment, you are responsible for it. You must carry it to the water yourself and bring it back to the hostel afterwards.
• Personal belongings taken on the water are at your own risk. We cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged items.

You start and finish at the beach right next to the youth hostel in Lultzhausen.
Equipment must be returned there – we do not offer a pick-up service and it cannot be left anywhere else.

You can rent the equipment every day, but it must be returned to the hostel by 5 p.m. each evening. It has to stay at the hostel overnight. We are not a commercial rental company, so multi-day rentals (for example to take the equipment away on holiday) are not possible.

As soon as you hire the equipment, you are responsible for it. You must carry it to the water and bring it back yourself.
Our staff are not obliged to carry or deliver the equipment, even if you find it heavy. We are happy to help when we can, but we cannot guarantee assistance.

You are responsible for your own belongings. We cannot accept any responsibility if a phone or other valuables fall into the water, or if items get damaged by water splashes.

It depends on your physical condition and your experience with water sports. A fit person can cover around 8 km in half a day (or about 16 km in a full day). Beginners or people trying a water sport for the first time may reach their limits after 2 km. We usually recommend a standard route of about 3 km.

No. You’ll only be paddling on the Upper Sûre Lake, which is a calm reservoir with still water.

No, approximately 400 metres east of the youth hostel in Lultzhausen is protection zone 1, which you are not permitted to enter without incurring heavy fines. Therefore, there is no waterway connection between Lultzhausen and Ettelbruck.

No. Anyone can hire the equipment – you don’t need to be staying at the hostel or be a member. If you just want to try it once, that’s fine.
However, if you wish to practise water sports on a regular basis, membership is recommended.

It depends on the size and age of your children.

• Example 1: a family consisting of two adults and two children aged 5 and 7. Unfortunately, it is not possible to rent a canoe, as two adults are required to supervise two children under the age of 7. As you have two children under the age of 7, four adults are required. The same applies to a family with one child aged 6 and another aged 9. In this case, a supervision ratio of 3 adults would be required. However, it is not possible to equip a canoe with three adults and two children.
• Example 2: a family with 2 adults and 2 children aged 8 and 9. Rental would be possible, with the children sitting in the middle of the canoe, but it may be too cramped if your children are tall.

In theory, yes, but it is not recommended if you have no canoeing experience. Children under the age of 10 often do not have the strength to manoeuvre a canoe, which means that the entire load falls on the adult. Canoes are much more difficult to manoeuvre because of their size, and therefore much more difficult to manoeuvre with only one adult.

No. Anyone aged 5 to 17 must always be accompanied by at least one adult. We do not rent equipment to minors on their own.

For safety reasons, it is unfortunately not permitted to bring dogs or any other animals. Thank you for your understanding.

• In the event of a no-show or cancellation less than 2 days in advance, the price of the activity will not be refunded.
• If the cancellation is made less than a week in advance, 50% of the price of the activity will be refunded.
• If the cancellation is made less than 2 weeks in advance, 75% of the price of the activity will be refunded.

It depends.

If the weather service issues a warning for the Upper Sûre Lake area and we cancel the activity, you can postpone to another date free of charge.

Otherwise we refund 50% by bank transfer.

Once the activity has started, no refund is possible (even if the weather turns bad).

We only cancel for storm or thunderstorm warnings. Rain alone is not a reason to cancel.

As soon as you return the equipment undamaged, the deposit is released from your credit card. The money was never taken – it was only blocked temporarily.

If you paid in cash, you get it back in cash straight away.

Youth hostels are a non-profit association (ASBL) that is also a member of the international youth hostel federation ‘Hostelling International’, which brings together more than 2,600 hostels in over 57 countries. It is therefore necessary to have a valid ‘Hostelling International’ card from your national youth hostel federation. People who do not have a membership card and who do not live in Luxembourg can purchase a day pass on site for €4 per person per night, which allows them to become a member for one night.

Annual membership entitles you to a €4 discount per adult per night in Luxembourg youth hostels, as well as numerous discounts on admission fees in Luxembourg and abroad, and a discount of at least 10% on the price of a night’s stay in more than 2,600 youth hostels worldwide. What’s more, as a member, you contribute to the qualitative development of youth hostels in order to meet visitors’ expectations.

A membership card can be purchased from the national youth hostel federation. Luxembourg residents can obtain this card via our online registration form or at the youth hostel of their choice.

If your address of residence is abroad, the membership card must be ordered from the national federation or online: www.hihostels.com.

No, there is no age limit. Children, young people and adults of all ages who enjoy the atmosphere of youth hostels are welcome.

Young people aged 16 to 17 travelling alone are welcome. However, parental authorisation is required for any unaccompanied stay. Children and teenagers under the age of 16 cannot stay alone in a youth hostel, but only when accompanied by an adult. However, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that the measures in force for travel abroad may vary from country to country. As a general rule, youth hostels sell beds rather than rooms. If you book a place in a multi-bed room, other guests may be accommodated in the same room. Families, on the other hand, are allocated a private room. Other guests can book double or single occupancy, subject to availability and at an additional cost.

Um wie viel Uhr kann man ein- und auschecken?

There is no longer a curfew in youth hostels, as there used to be. As almost all hostels have a card reader system, it is possible to access rooms 24 hours a day after check-in. In Luxembourg City and Esch-sur-Alzette, the reception is even open 24 hours a day.

Online bookings are possible for a maximum of seven nights. If you wish to extend your stay, you can do so directly on site. However, your stay cannot exceed 30 days per year in the Luxembourg youth hostel network.

The youth hostels in Beaufort, Echternach, Esch-sur-Alzette, Lultzhausen, Luxembourg City and Remerschen are partially or fully accessible to people with reduced mobility. Those wishing to book an adapted room should contact the hostel in advance.

Animals are not allowed inside the hostels. Dogs are, however, welcome on the terraces with their owners.
Assistance dogs are permitted in the rooms, but only if you let us know in advance.

Luxembourg’s youth hostels are much more than just places to stay. In addition to accommodation and catering, most of them have ideal facilities for organising meetings, conferences, congresses and seminars. Many hostels also offer leisure activities for groups, families and school classes. Other facilities include a climbing hall in Echternach, a bowling alley in Beaufort, and indoor playgrounds in Beaufort and Lultzhausen.

The rooms at the hostel are simply furnished. Upon arrival, our guests are given sheets so that they can make their own beds. Unlike hotels, our rooms do not have hairdryers, towels, soap, shampoo or televisions.

However, if you have forgotten your toiletries, you can purchase soap, shampoo, a toothbrush and toothpaste on site, as well as hire towels and a hairdryer for a small fee.

The rooms at the youth hostels in Beaufort, Echternach, Remerschen and Esch-sur-Alzette all have private showers and toilets. In the youth hostels in Luxembourg City, Larochette and Lultzhausen, only some rooms have private bathrooms. In the other rooms, showers and toilets are located in the corridors. In Vianden, none of the rooms have bathrooms; showers and toilets are located on each floor.

All youth hostels have free Wi-Fi. It works in common areas and in some rooms.

Only guests staying overnight have access to the rooms. It is strictly forbidden to let outsiders in.

The hostels in Beaufort, Echternach, Larochette and Luxembourg City have their own free car parks for cars and coaches. In Esch-sur-Alzette, Lultzhausen and Vianden, paid car parks or covered car parks are located in the immediate vicinity of the youth hostels. Free car parks are available in Hollenfels and Remerschen.

Guests can leave their luggage free of charge, before or after check-in, at all hostels. To take advantage of this service, simply ask at reception. This option is only available on the day of arrival and/or departure.

All youth hostels accept payment by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or V Pay) or in cash. Unfortunately, cheques are not accepted.

Breakfast is included in the price of an overnight stay. It is not possible to book an overnight stay without breakfast. The breakfast offering is simple and consists of bread/rolls, cold meats, cheese, spreads, cereal/cornflakes, yoghurt, milk, coffee and tea. Guests who wish to purchase additional drinks can do so in the cafeteria.

For hygiene reasons, guests are not permitted to bring their own sleeping bags and pillows to youth hostels. However, we provide bed linen free of charge for our guests.

Unfortunately, this is no longer possible. There are no kitchens for guests in our youth hostels anymore. You are also not permitted to prepare meals in your room. However, we would be delighted to welcome you to our ‘Melting Pot’ restaurants, which offer delicious meals to suit all budgets.

Each hostel has its own restaurant called the ‘Melting Pot’, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests wishing to book lunch and/or dinner can do so directly at reception.

Our restaurants are also open to visitors who are not staying at the hostel. A supplement is charged to non-members. Each of our hostels offers a different menu every day. You can view the menus on our website: www.meltingpot.lu.

Check-in is available between 2 pm and 6 pm. If you are arriving after this time, please inform reception so that your pitch remains reserved. No refunds will be given for late arrival and/or early departure. On the day of departure, we kindly ask all guests to vacate their pitch by midday and check out at reception.

The reception is open from 8 am to 10 pm. Access to and from the campsite is controlled by a barrier which is closed from 10 pm to 8 am.

Quiet hours are from 10 pm to 7 am. We ask all guests to be considerate of other campers during the day, too, and to avoid making unnecessary noise. The volume of radios, televisions and other devices must not disturb other campers.

There is a small shop at reception selling basic groceries. You can make larger shopping trips to Heiderscheid (6 km away) or Pommerloch (15 km away). There is also a camping shop in Heiderscheid. Orders for the breakfast service must be placed at reception by 6 pm previous day.

• All pitches are numbered. Everyone must stay on the pitch allocated to them upon arrival. The location of each pitch can be viewed on the site map.
• A maximum of six people are permitted per pitch.
• On departure, the pitch must be left empty, clean and completely tidy

• Each pitch has a 6-amp electricity supply (maximum 1,320 watts).
• A CEE adapter can be borrowed from reception for a deposit.
• It is strictly forbidden to charge electric cars on the campsite. The nearest fast-charging station is in Goesdorf, 6 km away.

• Cars must not exceed walking speed and must give way to pedestrians.
• Motorised vehicles are only permitted on the pitch during arrival and departure.
• Cars must not be parked on the pitch, but in the designated car park (except for cars with roof tents). The car park number corresponds to the pitch number.

• A maximum of two dogs are permitted per pitch. Other pets are not allowed. Please declare any dogs at the time of booking and upon check-in at the latest.
• Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times while on the campsite, including on your own pitch. Please note that the campsite is not a dog toilet. Dog waste must be cleared away immediately. Dog waste bags are available free of charge at reception.
• Please note that dogs are not permitted in the sanitary facilities.

Several water dispensers are located around the campsite. These are intended solely for dispensing small amounts of water. Washing up is strictly prohibited here. Please use the designated area in the main building for this purpose.

You can empty wastewater from your portable toilet at the chemical toilet disposal point. Never allow wastewater to seep into the ground.

The campsite is located within the Öewersauer Nature Park. Please respect the natural environment and the waterways. The river is a fragile ecosystem. Do not discharge wastewater into it or use it as a makeshift fridge. The environment will thank you for keeping waste to a minimum. There is a small recycling centre at the entrance to the campsite. Please sort your waste as best you can and place it in the designated bins. Bulky waste (e.g. old camping chairs) cannot be disposed of here.

Open fires and campfires are strictly prohibited. The use of flaming torches is also prohibited. Barbecues are permitted only on your own pitch, using suitable equipment (a gas barbecue) placed on a stable surface. The locations of the fire extinguishers are shown on the campsite map.

• Fishing in the river is prohibited.
• Day visitors must register in advance at reception and pay the applicable daily fee.
• It is not permitted to use the campsite facilities, including the beach, without a reservation and/or authorisation.
• Public and/or commercial events may not be organised without prior consultation with the campsite management.
• Failure to comply with these rules may result in immediate expulsion from the campsite. In this case, no refund will be given.
• Valuables should not be left unattended. We accept no liability for damage or theft.
• Staff instructions must be followed at all times.
• Please report any damage to the campsite or sanitary facilities to us.
• To help us improve our standards, we welcome your feedback in any form.

Yes, bed linen is included in the price of staying in our youth hostels and is provided by us. You will need to make your bed yourself using it. The pillow and duvet are already in the room. You will either be given the matching covers at check-in or they will already be on the bed in your room. For hygiene reasons, you cannot use your own sleeping bag. When you check out, please remove the used bed linen and place it in the designated containers in the hallway or at reception.
